Konami - 1991

The Simpsons has been in syndication since 1989. I was an instant fan. The Simpsons and Beavis & Butthead cartoons skirted the rules for what was considered the norm at the time.

Then the Simpsons arcade game came out in 1991. An arcade game starring one of my favorite cartoons? Of course I was hooked. Later on through the years my kids loved the show and the game. The great thing about this game is its ability to play 4 players at once. I don't have any 4 player games, so I have been looking for one of these for awhile.

This game is definitely the largest game I own. It clocks in at a whopping 350 pounds and takes up the space of two Nintendo cabinets. However, I guarantee you that this will get the most play anytime kids are over, one of the many reasons I decided to pick this one up. Lucky for me the previous owner cut a new plexiglass cover for the control panel. This allows those little carpet monsters to beat the tar out of the control panel without defacing the beautiful artwork underneath. Nice!

Dennis' Place for Games
957 W Belmont Ave, Chicago, IL 60657

While doing minor repairs on the game, I found 2 arcade tokens lodged in corners of the cabinet. I pulled them out and they said "Dennis' Place for Games", Chicago, IL. A quick web search showed that Dennis' Place for Games closed on Dec. 3, 2007. This Simpsons game served his last days earning money on location 6 months before ending up in my hands. Arcades are dying out fast everywhere in the United States. See below for a picture tribute to this little arcade.
